This is the horrid colour we have lived with for nearly 6 years while we concentrated our efforts on the inside. It is a funny tan/pink/salmon colour with burgundy trim…I don’t care for it!
You can see it here over the top of the original colour and what a difference it makes. I can’t wait for it to be done. I would love to hear what you all think of our new colour choices.
Now, here is my $5 sideboard as you last saw it…remember it was on it’s way to the tip and had been out in the rain for about a week or so before I snapped it up…
I replaced the handles with these beautiful antique copper finish pulls on the drawers and matching small door pulls on the doors.
I was going to just paint it all white, but when I had done that you could see a lot of the bits that were beyond repair, so I thought I would use that to my advantage and got some stain and ran over it all with a rag, concentrating it on the edges and then going over the middle of each panel with more white to give it a sort of French wash. I then sanded the edges (just a little) to make it seem old, which it is…and voila! New sideboard for our Kitchen. I can’t move it in until I have finished painting the walls white. Then I will show you it dressed. Please tell me what you think of it all.

You are the handy one! You have given that beautiful sideboard a new life. It looks like a great piece. The curvy legs and front are great details. The finish you chose works perfectly.

Love the new house colours – the salmon colour before was certainly unusual! Painting it white is going to completely change the look of the whole house. The sideboard has scrubbed up beautifully and I look forward to seeing it in situ.

Can’t wait to see the house fully painted. I think you have chosen well.
Love the drawer pulls – if I ever design my own kitchen, it would have these on the drawers for sure.
loving the sideboard, great job. I’d love to hear more detail of your efforts with it – what colour paint did you use, did you use a primer beforehand, what colour stain you used to enhance the weathered effect etc…..

Ness, you are so unbelievaveably clever! You can so tell you and your husband have put in ALOT of work and research in finding the right house colours and I think you nailed it! Your home is going to look like it was plucked right out of the French or Swedish countryside.

p.s Your sideboard also looks AMAZING! Again so much love and effort was put into it and it shows! You totally inspire me. I have soooo many unfinished furniture projects in the garage, these school holidays I am going to bust my guts to finish them no matter what! 🙂

Mic & his brother are champs Ness! Excellent colour choice for your exterior – those rough-hewn clapboards are amazing – what a story they could tell. Your sideboard will look fab in your kitchen – I do love free-standing cabinets in kitchen.
