I am one of those people who have many projects on the go at any one time.
I have started to turn my attention to our dining table, which is serious need
of a makeover as well. Our chairs won’t be as sumptuous as these, but it is one of my
main dining inspiration photos.

I would love to have linen covers for our chairs to throw over when we have
guests for dinner.

I love the idea of mismatched wicker and wood…especially outdoors.

I know Christmas is over…but who could resist this photo?
The things I love about this go on and on…so I won’t.

The whole white with wood thing appeals to me a lot.
I plan to strip off the orangey lacquer, paint the legs of the table and chairs white,
and leave the table top and chair seats wood and wax with black beeswax…It sounds like a big job, but the lacquer comes off really easily. We have a lot of dings and scratches in our table (thanks boys), so I don’t have to add any for the beeswax to grab…
wish me luck!

Hi again! Great idea!! Love it. Big job though. I have found that spray cans do a fabulous job and the finish is much better. Than do a coat of clear matt over the top. Learnt this is blog land!!!

It will look fantastic when you are done Ness. Can you please do my console table at the same time? 🙂
loving the idea of the white chairs rubbed back to give that aged look and making slip covers for those special occasions 🙂
It will look wonderful when finished…that certainly is an energetic undertaking!!!
I would love to see before, in between and the finished product…
Cheers
Great idea !!!
My favourite pictures : 8, 7 and 1.
Au revoir,
Groseille.
Promise you’ll post the finished table and chairs!
I always love seeing what you do to your pieces.
With inspirational images like these, you can’t go wrong. Love them all. The wicker on the porch is so gorgeous. Whoopi’s dining has to be my favorite.

Dear Ness,
Lovely photos….and just in time! I too, have my dining table to revamp this year. I have had this country french pine table since 1984….can you believe that! Talk about dings, there is even writing imprinted in it from the sale of three homes. Those Real Estate people write hard to get through all the pages, and don’t realize my pine table is a soft wood! Well, what memories! How could I part with that, and Lego dents!! So, paint is the perfect solution. I was thinking a soft green/grey. If you have a chance, please do stop by, a portion of the table is on my lastest post. I am having a giveaway this week..and the table just happened to be pictured. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Sorry for the long comment. ~Cheryl cottagefarmvilla
Sounds like it’s going to be fabulous! I can’t wait to see the finished product!
the photos are great Ness, i have 4 of those ikea slipcover chairs, they are really easy to wash etc. Am in the process of deciding to paint my big timber table or not so these photos helped (I really want to paint it , everyone else says keep it rustic on top)! arrggh, Mel xxx
great inspiration photos. I love the christmas photo. Love all the white with the greenery. Hmmm… wonder if I would like it once the christmas comes down??? Is all white too stark? wondering if it needs one additional color like the green? As much as I love to look at all white rooms, I often wonder if I could actually live in one. Oh well… Love your pictures.
Hi Katrina, Thanks for the advice about the clear coat. I am a sucker for hand painting though…everything else would end up painted if I sprayed!!
Catherine,
I would love to do your console. Just send it down. I will do them at the same time. xx
Azure designs,
I will definately take before, during and after shots…I am interested to see it as it happens too.

Alice,
I don’t think I could live in a all white interior either (!!! I know). Thats where I think the whole neutrals, texture and greenery along with hints of colour come in, for me anyway. For that particular interior I think some permanent greenery would be all that would be needed. Maybe small urns with bulbs and moss, or a faded terracotta pot (you know how they get that with wash through them?) with a little box plant in it. The lining on the walls gives it some texture, and the imperfect furniture…sorry I am going on, said I wouldn’t.

Mel,
Thats why I am leaving the top wood and doing the bottom white…best of both worlds.
Groseille, thanks for stoping by and leaving a comment. xx
