Setting the table for the Holidays, or any event, is something that should be planned as far as I am concerned to give your guests the picture that you really want them to be a part of your day…not an after thought!

When setting a table for an event you should start with some sort of theme, maybe a colour you have in your holiday decorating already…in my case white, gold, silver and naturals.

Once you have that starting point, you can really go to town with ideas etc…just dont try and cram too much on the table.

Start with your table cloth (if you are having one) or a runner etc, which is the anchor for your layout. Then put your statement pieces along the centre of the runner or tablecloth. It could be as simple as a bunch of roses from the garden, some hurricane lanterns, huge bowls of glittering baubles…you get it!

Then you will do a dry run for your tableware (plates, cutlery, glasses, napkins etc). By this stage you are checking to make sure there is enough room for all of this and keep in mind that alot of people like to have their cameras etc on the table. You should also be able to see comfortably over the center arrangement to keep the chit-chat going. There is nothing worse than not being able to see the people across form you when you are trying to talk.
