I may be guilty…and I won!

What am I on about?
Well, I just stopped over to Katrina Chambers blog (as now things aren’t as crazy I can actually visit you all again and leave comments) to read her post about commenting etiquette. She was talking about leaving constant comments on favourite blogs and not getting a response…which I may be guilty of. If you are a regular commenter on this blog and I have not replied back to you, it is not because I am a heartless cow…it is just that I am extremely busy. I normally reply all the time, but of late it is just too hard.
Now, I am not making any excuses. I do reply to most comments via emails, and sometimes through the post comments (which is what Katrina was talking about), but I cant let you know that I have replied via the blog because I don’t have the time to double handle all the comments. Now, sometimes I am getting 20+ comments on the blog and 30-50 emails about specific things, by the time I have replied to all of those as well as business and Etsy emails, I have virtually no time left for posting my blog, updating my shop, running my business, and most importantly my family!!!
So do you see where I am coming from.
There are some of you lovelies that regularly comment, a few I have no way of replying to except through the blog comments, and if you don’t read that post, well you wont know I have tried.
Over the last few months things have been crazy with all I have on and I am now starting to feel the weight lift a little so I should be back to my normal commenting self soon…
but in the meantime, please don’t take it personally if I don’t respond to EVERY email, comment etc I get…I do appreciate your visit very much so.

If it wasn’t for those of you out there that are as mad about decorating, styling, white, French, Scandinavian, antiques, bargains, renovating etc etc…I wouldn’t be doing as well as I am – THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Now on a lighter note…I won!!!
These two French iron candlesticks, and a set of 4 white artichoke vessels courtesy of a new blog, The Swedish Room.
I entered the first giveaway and won. I never win anything and this giveaway was gorgeous.
This is a really new blog, so check it out HERE.
…and if you leave a comment today, I PROMISE I will comment back via email or through the blog.

  • I always felt guilty not responding to people, too. In the one post when I finally did (I was off work for five days and had time) an anonymous poster accused me of ulterior motives for all of a sudden responding, and my husband told me he thought it was weird that I replied to every single person. haha Needless to say, I guess I’ll quit being nice!

  • My blog is only a few months new and with just a few posts, but I value each and every comment that is left…I also don’t always comment back, but I try like you to let them all know in a post how much they all mean to me 🙂 I think everyone understands that, and I would rather you have time to do more beautiful post, spend time with your family etc…I don’t mind at all visiting and letting you know how much I enjoyed my time here on your beautiful blog 🙂 As my Ita (grandma) used to say…Remember to always take a moment to stop…breath…and just…smile 🙂 good advice..no? • You shouldn’t feel obligated to answer every comment!
If I write a comment it’s beacuse I want to! If the person answers that’s nice, but not necessary.

I comment here sometimes on your blog just to let you know that I’m still here 🙂

  • Dear Ness,
I love reading your blog and I don´t leave a comment. But I do that this time to show you that there is no need for stress. It could be also vice versa someone reads your blog and is too busy to write you. So relax and just take the time for your family. I have also a business to take care of, my family my home and my blog so I can understand you so good. Congratulation to that gorgeous giveaway and best greetings from Germany !

  • Don’t be so hard on yourself! Blogging should be fun…not work! So many of us have full time jobs outside the home and families to care for as well…it would be impossible to respond consistently to all comments…we understand this and are just all trying to do the best we can…and we are not perfect! In my humble opinion, I would rather you spend any “free” time…posting for all of us who delight in reading your beautiful blog…so carry on…guilt free! Congrats on your win!

  • I am new to your blog and I’m really loving it!
I visit quite a few blogs and comment once in a while. I almost never go back to see if there was a blog response and never expect any other reply. I think it’s crazy to expect bloggers to respond to every comment. I’m just amazed that so many of my favorite blogs have the time to post on a daily basis.
    Keep up the inspiration!

  • Oh Ness!!! I SO feel you in this one!! There are just not enough hours in the day!! I do treasure each comment I get too but there’s just not enough time to get back to everyone… I try to answer questions of course but I even am falling behind on that & feel SO GUILTY… But I know if I were to spend the amount of time necessary to respond to every comment, I wouldn’t be able to continue blogging. It would just be too time-consuming. LIke you said, it takes time from our families, work, etc and I just wouldn’t be able to do it all. I do feel terrible though at the thought of people thinking I don’t care or of my having hurt anyone’s feelings…

such a tough spot. please don’t feel you have to write back to this either- belive me i SO know how it is!!! i might have to post on this soon too to explain myself…

  • ohh yes I so know what you mean.. I have all blogs I follow in my google reader and sometimes I see the counter walking up to over 1000 new post … I still try to write a comment on most of them but skip a post or two sometimes … as long as there there are so many beautiful blogs it will remain like this ;(… To be honest I don’t really feel like you never pass but also really enjoy if you do!

  • MNCaroline,
Trust me, I find it hard to find the time of late, but i do because I really love this blog and it is like another child, so naturally I worry about it and the people who make it what it is.
And like you when I comment on another blog, I never go back to have a look…unless I want a specific reply, but then I usually send them an email as I know how hard it is.
    Thanks

  • Oh Ness, don’t stress and don’t comment unless you have the time. Family comes first. Goodness, surely bloggers understand this. It is time consuming this bloggy blog thing. I am sure I have lost many due to my sometimes lack of commenting but I can only do my best in all aspects of my life. Take comfort in that your blog brings so much joy to so many. Forget the comments, just keep bloggin’… we need to see Ness’s barn come to fruition. A-M xx

  • I linked over from Gracious Southern Living.

I get so passionate about this subject I had to comment, ironically! 🙂

People that expect a “comment” (response) to their comment – it’s like expecting a thank you card for your thank you card. Nonsense. Comments should be given freely, with nothing expected in return. Whether or not you respond, should not matter to the other person.

    I say – relax!

And don’t feel the need to respond to my comment!!! 🙂 Merry Christmas!!!
