Home makes me smile…

One of those days!
Mason, our 3 year old swallowed dish washing liquid on the way back from the grocery store. I panicked and felt really teary while talking to the Poisons Center. He is OK, but I think he regretted it!
So, I took some photos of things that make me smile and feel calm…basically home.
This one is of the mirror Dad made us that’s in the dining area, looking into the living room. The afternoon sun was just starting to come over the top of our house to fill the living room with light.
My $50 Chaise. How can that not make me smile and it is filled with the ticking, tufted base I made and a heap of cushions/pillows that I have made. It is in the hallway, right outside of our bedroom door and I love seeing it.

3 gorgeous little bottles I bought in Oatlands on a trip with my Mum and the boys and an old picture frame, picked up at the markets.
And finally, a new cover for my Etsy Store called La balloon (I really like this one and have made something else with it that I will show you soon) which is on a stack of books all about white interiors….ah smile =0)
The day has ended well with a nice 3km run to get rid of the stress.
Lets hope tomorrow goes smoothly!

  • Hi Ness,

Hope Mason is feeling okay. Always scary when that happens. Aren’t the posions information centre wonderful. I remember having to ring them when I thought one of my kids had swallowed something that they shouldn’t have, a few years ago now. All of today’s pictures are simply gorgeous, your home is looking lovely. I always look forward to the afternoon sunlight here too, it bathes everything in such a gorgeous glow. I have to say I really love the mirror you have hanging in your dining area, it looks great and I love what it reflects. Anyway, hope you have a better day tomorrow.

  • Poor Mason, but a good lesson to learn! and now he’ll understand how scary it is when you threaten to wash his mouth out with soap when he’s older 🙂

I’m forever dying of envy of your ability to sew…. my goodness what a wonderful thing… There are classes available all over Austin, but I am terrified to start. I don’t even know how to turn a sewing machine on!

  • Hi Ness!
I’m sorry to hear your son had a terrible mishap. I hope he is ok now. Trust me I remember when my daughter was a baby having a situation where she rolled off the bed when I turned for one quick second to bend down and get socks out of the laundry basket right next to the bed I thought I still had my one hand on her, but that quick, boom, on the floor she went. I was hysterical the whole way to the doctor’s office. These things happen when kids are little. You just have to do a whole lot of praying that everything will be OK.
I hope you have calmed down since then. You’re right there’s no place like home. Especially when you need a soft place to land. Well at least that whole thing is behind you and I hope it’s all OK now.

I have a Happy 101 Award for you over on my blog. It’s a thank you for always being so sweet to me and making me happy when you come to visit me!
    Enjoy and RELAX 🙂
    XoXo,
    Gail

  • Oh my goodness, Ness. That must have been a scary moment for both of you. I am so glad Mason is ok. I have some horror stories about my kid’s accidents but I won’t bore you with them now-just rest assured that kids will always be kids and this was probably the first of many accidents!

    Love your beautiful things!

    Best wishes, Natasha.

  • Egged on by his older brother, Son #4 as a 2 year old, opened the dishwasher door, unscrewed the Rinse Aid cap, got a straw & drunk the contents. And all made worse by the fact that I was standing in the kitchen with them feeding their baby brother at the time! Needless to say he was most unwell & he & I needed a night in Hospital to recover. Now at 28, he’ll still not entirely forgiven his brother. I’m sure Mason will be sticking to cordial from now on Ness. Love the pics of your lovely nest – it’s looking a treat!

  • Parenthood is such a roller coaster ride! When my children were little I used to think it would be easier when they got older. It hasn’t!
I’m so glad Mason is ok. I’m sure he learned a good lesson. Sometimes that’s the only way they do learn.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. It calmed me down too!

My Dad made those mirrors out of Ikea mirror squares and scrap mouldings. We always get asked where they came from.
