New Day…

Our old fire in the kitchen was roaring today and while I was about to add another log, I thought I would show you the new arrangement I made on the mantel. You would now by now that this never stays the same for long and that the wreath and the frame used to grace my office originally, then our bedroom.
I will show you soon what else was changed around.
This image for me is real, my washing drying off to the right of the fire, the tea towel airing after washing the lunch dishes etc. Not staged, styled or tampered with…just life in all its simple beauty.
I was inspired after doing this mantel arrangement and went on to experiment on some new covers for the sofa and dye some fabric for my island rebuild.

While I was in this state of mind, I went on to make some new covers for the store, like this lumbar cover in my hand dyed cotton…

and this Parisian Bus Roll in reverse. Not the usual black background. Simple and stylish.

Oh! and these.

Petite Bird clay tags.
…and my favourite, Ginger Jar Clay Tags.

All of the new tags come in sets of 4.
If you would like to have a look at these and my other items, head over to my Etsy Store,
I would love to hear what you think about my inspired day =0)

  • Absolutely LOVE the arrangement on your mantel! Having recently moved into a new house, I find myself constantly moving and re-arranging things in every nook and cranny I can find. Always things, as you say that are for ‘real life’ – often it’s the simple everyday items that create the most beautiful images. I also think that your clay tags are GENIUS – so delicate and pretty – Bravo!

  • I LOVE that new bus roll pillow! Really clean and cute. Love the fireplace too but I can’t even get into anything “heat related” these days. The devil temps have arrived here.

  • I can’t believe the depths you can sink to. The clay tags are the idea of another blogger. I bought some just last week.

  • Hi Ness, Love the simplicity of your fireplace and the reality of your day to day bits like the laundry hanging about.

I see from the above comment you have been visited by a bad witch. Hopefully you won’t pay attention. Your pillows and bits are all lovely.

  • Hi Ness,

Just thought I would let you know that I am not the anonymous who just left a comment on your clay tags. I am the anonymous who left a comment about the book. Please dont think I am the same person.
I shall leave my name. I am actually a friend of The Vintage Rose, and live in Launceston.

  • Hello lovely Ness:) Seems that some people just have the rude and nasty gene, especially when they do not have the decency to put their identity to such comments as the one above. I love your clay tags and have done since I first saw them on YOUR blog many, many months ago. Your new designs are fabulous and your cushions are gorgeous. Your mantle looks beautiful, I love your new arrangement. Happy days sweet friend ~ Tina xx

  • To the annon (not nice one)!
I HAVE BEEN MAKING THESE CLAY TAGS NOW SINCE I STARTED WITH MY CHRISTMAS RANGE THE FIRST YEAR I OPENED MY STORE. THE FIRST ONE SOLD ON THE 13TH nOV 2008 AND HAD BEEN IN THE MAKING SINCE THE MAY OF 08…AND I HAVE PROOF. AS FOR THE BLOGGER YOU BOUGHT THEM OFF, I HAVE NOT COPIED ANYONES DESIGNS AND HAVE WORKING DRAWINGS (AS WITH THE COPYRIGHT POLICY) SHOWING THAT MY IDEAS ARE REAL AND HAVE COME FROM ME, NO ONE ELSE. I HAVENT SEEN ANYTHING ELSE LIKE IT ABOUT, SO MAYBE THEY COPIED ME, GET PROOF FIRST!! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LET ME KNOW WHO YOU BOUGHT THEM OFF I WILL HAVE A LOOK, BUT TO JUST COME HERE AND SLANDER ME ABOUT IT WITHOUT GETTING ANY FACTS FIRST HAS REALLY TICKED ME OFF. MY BLOG WAS NEVER MEANT FOR THIS AND AS OF TODAY I WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING ANNON COMMENTS. IF YU HAVE THE GUTS TO SEND ME AN EMAIL WITH YOUR NAME ATTATCHED I CAN TALK TO YOU ABOUT IT THERE…NOT HERE. THERE ARE A FEW NASTY ONES GOING ABOUT HARRASSING OTHER BLOGGERS. JUST KNOW IT DOESNT BOTHER ME, I JUST HATE THE FACT YOU HAVE NO PROOF AND HAVE JUST TRIED TO SLANDER MY GOOD NAME.
    ….OVER IT!!!
