Moving To The Farm…

I will miss the light that changes through the seasons in our very wide old hallway…yep, that’s a sock 😉

If you haven’t heard yet, we have bought a property by the water. We are so excited about this and can’t wait to get there. It’s a beautiful old home built in 1900 and was once the biggest apple orchard in the Southern Hemisphere back in it’s day. Over time the surrounding land has been sold off to farms and we now have a lovely acreage that’s big, but not crazy big.

The old farmhouse needs some work, but that seems to be our thing these days- haha! I could feel the grandness of the property as soon as I first viewed it, with it’s big circular driveway, deep, wide verandas and gorgeous proportions. It still has lots of fruit trees and from the current owners own words there is “far too much fruit”. In the berry orchard, just from the red raspberries they picked 32 kilos this summer!

I will share some more images soon, but thought I’d give you a sneak at one of the paddocks. We are already the owners of 3 sheep and have some chickens on the way…I sound like a farm mother and my Dad jokes that I will fit right in with my Hunter boots and our Border Collies.

I also have a purpose made studio on the farm, which I am super excited about and have a lot planned for that place.

So, the farm needs a good tidy up and prune of the zillion fruit trees and veggie beds and of course there is the house, the Old Dame as I’ve decided to call her, that needs lots of love and care and I would love to have you along on our journey.

So while we wait for our settlement date to arrive, I’m packing and designing kitchens and colour charts for the farm and getting lost in a book which has the full history on the property. The weather has turned into chilly days and cold nights and with the fire crackling away in the background, I’m constantly drifting off to the farm and anticipating our new life on an old farm.
