Days in the studio are becoming shorter and packing it all up is half way done. You don’t realise how much you need to run a ceramics studio and business until you have to pack it up!
While I’m going through paperwork and bottles of glaze, I’ve also been working out where everything will go, roughly, and designing the new space. There is a lot more space to play with and the new studio has a large room at the front with a kitchenette and four large wooden windows that fill the room with light. Just off this is a storage area and a little bathroom with toilet and shower. Then off the storage area, through a door is another large area that is also filled with light and is always warm – the drying room.
The current studio has lots of room to move about, but it’s getting to the point where I need more space, so the new studio will be brilliant for that. I’ll even have room for studio open days now – how’s that?!
Here is a little sneak peek of the front of the studio in all of it’s un-renovated glory. It needs new shiplap on the outside and a new paint colour scheme, but the proportions inside are wonderful! This is the only image I took of the studio, so I will share more when we move in.
Here are some of my inspirations for the new space…
Industrial and a little feminine is what I’m after. I love the idea of this huge, oversized floral wall. I don’t think I will go with this exact look, but maybe a little moodier to balance the massive amount of light in the main work area. What do you think of my inspiration?
So, in the meantime, i’m still packing and to help me do that, i’m having a “Studio Moving Sale”.
It’s only for the next 2 days and ends on 23rd, June 2016!! All you have to do is add STUDIOSHIFT70 into the code box when you checkout. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled over the next few days, as I will be adding more items to the store. Let’s be honest, it’s less I have to pack haha.
10 days to go!! ~Ness xx
