Brand new from the kiln!
I was sweating on this kiln load, because in it, was hours of work. Which is normally the case, but this time it was that little bit more special than usual….pieces I had never made before, pieces I spent ages pondering if you would all love them as much as I do. I even had a few test pieces, experiments you might call them.
With a load like this, it can go two ways – crack/explode/not work out OR be divine, like a little choir sings when the kiln door opens
….the choir sang! It all worked 🙂
I’m over the moon with this dinner plate/serving plate.
I spent quite some time drawing straight onto the ceramic. No pre sketch, just freehand straight on. This is an original.
It works so beautifully with my other new pieces and of course my other ranges.
This is another new piece. A little bit of whimsy and some more hand drawn patterns.
I really love the delicate little wreath on this bowl. Its the perfect size for a cereal bowl too.
It’s been so nice to be able to just create and not be bound to collections. I will still be doing some of my collections, but have a new format for those….which I will talk more about soon.
I have taken the little floral details over the top of this bowl. This is what is nice about having freedom to create, little, subtle changes which are dictated by each piece as they are all slightly different having been moulded by one set of hands…mine.
Some pieces are just because 🙂
When I brought out some of the older patterns, I was so happy seeing how they all worked together. This just lets your collection evolve so much, depending on the season, the event, your mood.
There was an experiment with the ‘Tihan’ plate…in black
and I love it! The variations in the glaze intensity, the shadows and how it picks up the details is just lovely. It’s the little things.
There has been lot’s and lot’s of work in the studio, getting ready for some markets, making some big custom orders and of course – the shop update. There will be a date for this soon 🙂
Also, as I mentioned before, there will be an announcement about some of the collections you love very, very soon too.
It’s all very exciting as Marley & Lockyer heads forward and upwards and I thank you all for being with me.
I would love to hear your comments on these new pieces, please. don’t forget that you can comment straight from Facebook too and if you don’t want to miss any behind the scenes stuff, you can follow me on Instagram too.
