Rodan + Fields – Skin Care Taking Over

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of this company, Rodan & Fields or not yet, but it is the hottest skincare that is taking the world by storm. developed by two Stanford trained Dermatologists, Dr Katie Rodan and Dr Kathy Fields.

Recently, I was contacted by Michelle, who is a rep or the company to see if i’d be interested in reviewing the products. I was a little worried at first, as I have sensitive skin, and it does not like change. So, I went off to have a look at the website. There you can totally customise your skin care regime, which I thought was brilliant…but still a little worried. Now, I’m the kind of person that will tell you if I’m not into something, so I was hoping it would be ok on my skin. I’ve been using it for about 6 weeks now, so can tell you what I think of it all and if it’s worth the hype.

I chose a regime more for sensitive skin with a hint of anti-aging (seeing I’m not getting any younger), and everything is labelled in order – easy.

I chose the Daily Cleansing Mask, Pore Minimalising Toner, Triple Defense Treatment, Ovrnight Restorative Cream, and the Body Sunscreen.

This stuff is brilliant. I’ve been putting it on if I’m out in the garden and during the day on my décolletage as I mostly wear v neck shirts. I’ve also used it over summer on the kids. It lasts for 40 minutes in the water and is SPF 30 which is great for our harsh Tasmanian sun.

So, you use step 1 and 2 twice a day, and step 3 in the morning routine only  step 3 actually has a built in sunscreen which I loved and it’s not heavy at all. The cleanser is great too. It gets all my makeup off in one hit, so I’m loving that!

Then at night you repeat steps 1 and 2 and add in this P.M Overnight Restorative Cream. It took me a few nights to get used to having this on my face, as I don’t normally wear and overnight on my skin.

One thing I noticed by day two was my pores around my nose shrunk a lot! By the end of the first week my skin texture felt a lot smoother and I noticed a little area of pigmentation I have has lightened over the 6 weeks as well. This is great for me, as I was thinking about going to a dermatologist to see about it….so super happy about that!

All I all, I would definitely recommend trying it, if you have sensitively skin. I’ve since heard from quite a lot of people who are using it and loving that you can customise it for aging skin, teenage skin, and everything in between.

Sugar Free, Dairy Free Banana Bread

Happy new year! Summer is in full swing here, which means plenty of slow days by the water, in the garden, or baking.

We had one of our boys friend here for a sleepover last night, so I wanted to make something that would fill them up and not be full of garbage like sugar. My trusty banana bread recipe came to the rescue!

I have posted this recipe here before. Every time I post a photo of it, I get lots of requests for it.

This banana bread is SO versatile. I have altered his so many ways depending on what’s in the pantry. You can use sugar and dairy if you like, or different flours/GF flour, whatever. Here’sthe recipe (I’ll include some variations in brackets too)

SUGAR & DAIRY FREE BANANA BREAD

*3 very ripe bananas

*1/4 cup of Natvia (or sugar/honey/medijool dates etc) or omit this completely

*3 tablespoons of coconut butter (or butter/olive oil/coconut oil etc)

-mix these together until banana becomes almost smooth, then add

*2 eggs, mixing each one completely in before adding the next

*1 teaspoon of vanilla paste (add more if your not adding any type of sweetening)

*3/4 cup of coconut yoghurt (or natural Greek yoghurt if you’re ok with dairy, or buttermilk)

*2 cups of self raising flour (you can use any type of flour mix for this- spelt, GF, wholemeal, coconut/almond)

-fold the yoghurt/flour mix in lightly and quickly until flour is just combined  don’t over mix or it will be tough.

*add mix to a lined baking dish and bake at 170C for 70 minutes, or until a knife comes out clean.

This is perfect with a cup of tea or coffee in the afternoon after a long swim.

Feelings Of Thanks, Feelings Of Sadness…

If you follow my social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook, you would know that we recently lost our dear Mum.

Its  been an extremely hard time for us since April, when we found out my Mum was so unwell. Trying to function like nothing was going on behind the scenes to the world was so hard, but it had to be done. There was only a handful of people who knew what was going on behind the scenes, and I thank those people dearly for their support.

I’ve had good days and bad days, and days where I just can’t get my head into work/creating. Those are the days I feel defeated the most. I’m trying to get on top of all of my orders right now, and I thank you all tremendously for your patience with me through this.

My creative mojo is coming back, more and more each day, and while I have many feelings of thanks to you all, there is still feelings of sadness. This time is for our family to nurture each other’s hearts, our heads and our spirits.

Each day is a new day, and I go into it with no expectations at all.  I wanted to thank you all again for your messages of support, prayers and hope. You are all stars ✨

There will be 2 ceramic workshops and one of those will be a Christmas themed one, where you can make decorations, serving pieces…whatever you like.

Here are some of the wonderful pieces made on Saturday at the last Winter Workshop. I love getting to share what I know, and watching people slow down and become lost in the process. There’s often comments about how “calming” the workshops are. I love that in this busy day and age.

I’m adding a new workshop to the mix for this series – Modern Calligraphy!

It’s something I get asked about often, and I’m so happy to be able to offer it for this seasons workshops. It will be a little different from a traditional calligraphy class, and will work for beginners through to the experienced. We will have a Christmas theme to this workshop as well. So, if you want to make your own cards, invitations, place cards, decorative pieces, this is the workshop for you.

SO, here are the dates-

Ceramic Hand Building Workshop – Saturday, 7th October 2017 – 10am -2pm

Christmas Ceramic Hand Building Workshop – Saturday, 4th November 2017- 10am-2pm

I would love to see you at one! ~Ness xx

So, it’s been a year….

Marley & Lockyer

Hard to believe, but we’ve been at the farm for a year tomorrow! I know, right? It seems like a few months ago that we packed up The Old Lady and headed to our fixer upper ‘The Old Dame Farmhouse’.

Weve had a blast here at the farm so far, so I thought I’d update you on what we’ve been doing up until now…

Day 2, we pulled out the horrible kitchen. It was a LOT of work. Floor height differences, knocked down a wall into another room to make he kitchen bigger, replaced bearers and joists, demolished a fireplace/chimney, replaced the hot water system and gas lines and rewired lots of dodgy wiring.

Marley & Lockyer

We replaced it with this. We love this space now. It’s so nice to wake up to in the morning, and the feel in here is what will be through the rest of the farm as we renovate it.

Marley & Lockyer Home

Its been wonderful bringing my antique and vintage pieces back out and finding new homes for them.

Marley & Lockyer Home

My Dad restored this beautiful, original wooden screen door that we found in the berry orchard. It’s perfect for the front of the farmhouse.

We also replaced the whole roof at the back of the house, replaced plumbing, more wiring…lots of things you can’t see, but are most important.

Marley & Lockyer

Discovered this gorgeous old Sunshine gate in the back paddock, which is earmarked as our new front entry gate. We are planing on changing some things in the front garden….

Right now, we have a huge double entry, horseshoe driveway that we are thinking of making into a single entry with a return circle drive around an old tree in the centre of the yard. It will take away the dust that gets flicked up on the front porch at the moment. We are thinking of some semi formal beds along the front porch that will walk out onto the turning circle driveway…stay tuned.

I started tearing up the terribly old shag pile carpets to reveal some old floorboards that are in pretty good shape. I’ve got a few plans for finishing the Flores to compliment the style of the farmhouse. Eventually, that doorway in the middle of the hallway will be removed as well as the false ceiling that runs through this space. The original ceiling is hidden by it, and it is a few feet higher. The walls will be  tongue and groove, painted white like the kitchen and a natural runner will go on the floor. I’m thinking about making some ceramic lights to go down here.

I gave the studio a mini makeover and removed more shag pile carpet, an old kitchenette, and painted the whole place white. I also handmade the backsplash tiles in the patterns that feature in my work, to compliment my salvage yard find school art sink.

We added to our family also…three gorgeous sheep that I named Tallulah, Dolores and Agnes…

…as well as a flock of gorgeous Silkies. They are the sweetest little balls of fluff.

At Christmas time, we hatched this gorgeous rooster, Francois Le Peck (front). That’s his dad behind him, Geoffoir Le Peck, the original rockstar! We sadly lost Geoffoir a few weeks ago. He has been missed dearly.

Theres still loads to do both inside and out, but we have all settled in so well here. A few people have commented on the amount of work we have ahead of us, but if you had seen The Old Lady when we bought her, you would realise that the farmhouse is so much less work. We are happy about the less work bit!

It’s been the best move we’ve made yet.

Happy home anniversary to us all xx
