Olive Grove Retreat

This is the country retreat of Melbourne Hair Stylist,Wesley Douvos in Heathcote Vic. It is actually for rent as a weekender! I would live here permanently. This is my idea of loft living, although it is in a Chapel-like building. It is stunningly beautiful, and his attention to detail, superb…
like the French Chandeliers, and white and linen covered furniture…
even outdoors it is stunning. Hows this for a weekend unwind?
This Bathroom is beautiful and shares the space with the sleeping area on the Mezzanine level. I adore the high ceilings and the tonal colours…my sort of palette in a bathroom. This is the same as our tub and after seeing these taps I have put this into the bathroom reno file. It is gorgeous.

Have a nice weekend

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. It is freezing here so we will be indoors catching up on jobs I think and playing with the boys. See you on Monday.

Kitchen Envy

photo – Ideal Home
Sitting in our Kitchen this morning while having my cup of coffee, I had so many ‘we should do…’ ideas running through my head I had to go do something else so I wouldn’t start something I might regret. I love this Kitchen (because it is white) and the fact it is about as big as our Kitchen. You have to understand though our Kitchen has 70’s wood doors and feral beige speckled laminated bench tops….oh I know! You can see why I am dying to paint the cupboards white. I love the sink.

I think these 2 photos show what I am after. We too have a big fireplace opening like this pic that we would love to put in a black oven with tiled back. At the moment it contains a cast iron fire you can cook on, but you need a tree a night to run it! Against the white cupboards it looks so clean and fresh. We also have a centre island like this (that is currently 70’s wood) and I could imagine these chairs from Ikea snuggled underneath. This would keep morning toast etc spills contained to one area.
Oh to dream…Ness x

The Man Can Display

I received my copy of Australian Country Style today and couldn’t wait to show you this home of Justine Bishop, an Interior Designer, in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. The house is an old cottage that he admired for years…then nabbed it and went to work.
The man can display. Utilitarian becomes beautiful…
and the strange, stunning. This telescope stand and army advertisement show his love for military campaigns, which is picked up through the rest of the house. I so want those urns!

A hint of ‘Somethings Gotta Give’…

Today I have been looking through some Home Beautiful Mags and came across this house which I love. It is home to Ceramist Kate Shea. I adore this room and would love my lounge to be covered in white with that style of cushions on it (have to wait for jam hand stage to be over first)…
I also love the look of her dining area with the French farmhouse work table. The portrait is a 1920’s watercolour of a Shakespearean actor she bought at Christies in London (she lived around the corner). Don’t you think the whole look is like “Somethings Gotta Give”?…
AAAHHHH! The set from said movie. I am in love with the set designer. This is everything I would want in a house if I had a chance to plan from dirt up. I would say “here, re create that”.
These chairs are so like Kate’s dining room chairs. I love them. I think I would have them in our outdoor area at our current Home though. For more great images that will remind you of this set and just great homes, photos etc go to www.citified.blogspot.com the page is called ‘This is glamorous’ it is such a fab site. I think I am going to watch the movie…again!
